Natural remedies & lifestyle tips
- Eat more fermented foods (yogurt, kefir, sauerkraut, kimchi)
- Increase soluble and insoluble fiber gradually
- Chew thoroughly and eat without rushing
- Stay hydrated to support regularity
Make it at home
Ginger-Fennel Tea
- 1 teaspoon fennel seeds, lightly crushed
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cups hot water
- Optional: a little honey
- Place the fennel and ginger in a mug or teapot.
- Pour over the hot water, cover and steep 10 minutes.
- Strain and sip after meals.
Ginger and fennel are traditionally enjoyed after meals. Skip fennel if you are pregnant unless your doctor says it is fine.
Kefir & Kiwi Breakfast Bowl
- 1 cup plain kefir or live-culture yogurt
- 1 ripe kiwi, chopped
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
- 1/2 banana, sliced
- 1 teaspoon honey
- Spoon the kefir into a bowl.
- Top with kiwi, banana and flaxseed.
- Drizzle with honey and eat right away.
Kefir and yogurt with live cultures, plus fruit and ground flax, make a fiber-rich breakfast. Use a dairy-free cultured yogurt if you avoid dairy, and ask your doctor first if your immune system is weakened.

Talk with your doctor. Check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding any supplement, especially if you are pregnant or nursing, take prescription medicine, or have a medical condition. Symptoms that are new, severe or not improving deserve a visit to a health professional.
